check these bands out...or die.

i have been totally binging on a few bands lately. Some i have been a fan of for a long time , others not so much. Either way, they're amazing nonetheless

1. AFI (Ukiah [San Francisco Bay Area], California). And NOT the synthy-poppy, new-age AFI. i'm talking about the raw, passionate, powerful AFI if yesteryears. Their first 6 albums were all masterpieces. Most notably, their releases from 1999-2003, including the albums Black Sails in the Sunset, The Art of Drowning, Sing the Sorrow, as well as the All Hallows and Self titled EP's. some wonderful tracks that are in immediate need of download are God Called in Sick Today, Fall Children, Wester, and This Time Imperfect.

2. Against Me! [as well as the solo release from their lead singer, Tom Gabel](Gainesville, Florida). sure, people claim them to be sellouts, but they're popular for a reason [like...their good]. many people claim they suck now, but, wasnt it just one album ago that those same people were bitching about how there weren't more bands like Against Me! out in the music business? thought so...i've lately been digging their live album, as well as their acoustic stuff. Also, their new[-er] album, as much as i've talked it down over the past year and a half, is finally growing on me. I've been digging the tracks White People For Peace, Stop, Piss and Vinegar, and Animal.

3. Less Than Jake (also from Gainesville). This Ska Punk band [unfamiliar with Ska Punk? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ska_punk] has had me hooked, with thier catchy riffs [guitar, bass, and brass sections alike!], and songs that are so easy and fun to sing along too, make this band one of the best out there today! i've especially been loving their album, Anthem!. some good songs to check out would be Plastic Cup Politics, She's Gonna Break Soon, the Science of Selling Yourself Short, That's Why They Call it a Union,...hell, just check out the whole album.

on a different note...i'd kind of like it if people actually read this thing :p.

a bit of a musical rant

I think that it is absolutely ridiculous that everyone keeps ragging on great bands that make it big. Against Me! seems to be a prime example

For Against Me!, a good chunk of their fan base is made up of elitist pricks who do nothing more anymore than bitch about how "Against Me! used to be good...now they sold out and they suck!". Seriously? As if any of you elitists WOULDN'T sign to a major label if you had the chance? you'd be lying if you said no...as well as a total idiot. They'd be lying to say that, in a position where a label was willing to throw mass amounts of money at them, as well as fund their next tour, as well as produce their next album, that they would say "No, I'm too good for that." The other point being that one of the main reasons they moved to SIRE records was the promise that they work with the person who produced "Nevermind" by Nirvana. People don't seem to comprehend that Against Me! is an AMAZING band, and it'd be a shame for all of America NOT to know why they were. plus, I know I'd rather hear an Against Me! song on MTV over any of the other horrible, talentless crap they play now. So, to all of you elitist pricks...piss off already, and just be happy that Against Me! is getting to be known by everyone, and is enjoying the fruits of their labors. Normally, I'm against bands going to the "MTV side," but in Against Me's case, when going to MTV is a result of years of strenuous touring and labors, then cut them some fucking slack.

also, to all AFI elitists...GET OVER IT! they are a synth pop/electronic band now. it is just the way they've progressed. i know...black sails in the sunset is probably the best album, ever. but quit dwelling on the fact that they have moved on...theyre all in their thirties, and probably don't enjoy the same music they did 10 years ago. I know i don't listen to all of the same shit i listened to 10 years ago...and thank the god that doesn't exist for it.

the end.

p.s.- i've been on a total less than jake binge lately

w00t for warped!

alrighty, it's that time of the year again. well, its far past THAT time of the year, seeing as how they've waited quite longer than usual to release this information, but i digress.

the event that I'm talking about is the Van's Warped Tour! they have finally released the list of acts performing, and I must say, I am quite excited for this year's lineup. some notable acts include :

Anti-flag
Bad Religion
Bouncing Souls
Flogging Molly
Less Than Jake
NOFX
Streetlight Manifesto
The Ataris
The Devil Wears Prada

As you may know [if not, refer to my first post], I am a total BEAST of a fan of punk rock and whatnot, and i was ecstatic to find out that punk powerhouses NOFX, Anti-Flag, and Bad Religion would be there, and i can't wait! I will most likely be attending the Indianapolis date, and then will probably be going to a raging party at a chum of mine's house afterwords.

...and there's nothing quite like it.

i, of course, am talking about...Cannibis Sativa! or even indicas...or sensemilas...
as a trustable source, through much use and personal experimentation...i can clearly see that cannibis is the most amazing plant, ever.
